Happy New Year

Another year has started and we are looking forward to it being a good one for our family.

Matt is still laid off work for the winter, but is probably going to return to work sometime in late February. Whilst off work, he is using this time to work on graphic design projects. He is flying out to California later in January to visit with family and friends before going back to work.

Joanne is still operating a home daycare business, and will be adding two more preschoolers into the mix in the first week of February, bringing her up to full capacity. She really enjoys being at home each day caring for the children who range in age from 6 months to 5 years.

Lauren is in her second semester of fourth grade and she continues to do very well in all areas of her studies. She loves science and has a wide range of interests, such as marine animals, geology, archaeology, and electronics. She also loves reading and was excited to get some more books from the library last night. She read a 500+ page book three times over her winter break, and the books she borrowed from the library are the next two in the series.

Chloe is now attending a local preschool each morning, and she often walks around our house singing the songs she has learned at preschool. She loves to dress up in her tutu and dance around the house. She also loves Hello Kitty and her baby doll named Bella. She can be quite a goofball some times, and she certainly keeps us entertained.

Visit our blog each month and see what the Brinsfield family is up to in 2014.

New Year's Day sledding

On New Year's Day we enjoyed an afternoon of sledding on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence. The girls and I had a fun time sledding down the hill and we all enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate afterwards. It was a great way to start the new year.

Celebration Tree

This year I've decided to keep our small Christmas tree up and decorate it in different ways as we celebrate various events throughout the year. In the first part of January I decorated it with winter themed ornaments, and now it's all decked out with red, white and blue for Australia Day on January 26th.

L & C Lemonade Stand

This is a collapsible reusable stand that Jo and I built for Lauren and Chloe, hence L & C Lemonade. Matt designed the art work and had it printed on a banner at FedEx Kinkos. We set it up at a multi-family garage sale at Lauren's preschool, on Saturday the 25th of April, and even though business was slow, Lauren was excited that she made $5.00 profit after covering her expenses.
